REdS: Performance History Since 1990
Completed Training and Evaluation Projects:
- McDonald Douglas, Johnson Space
Center, Barrios Engineering, Boeing Corporation, and
others. The contract consisted of development of teacher
training and evaluation of curriculum modules.
- In Spring, 1992 the University of West Florida
contracted with Research and Educational Services to collaborate
with development of evaluation training manuals to be released
nationally. The training manuals were developed for the
Center for Substance Abuse Prevention.
- In the spring of 1994, Research and Educational Services was
engaged by the Texas Railroad Commission, Texas General
Land Office and the Texas Education Agency to evaluate
a set of modules for teacher training and classroom utilization.
- In the spring and summer of 1995 Research and Educational
Services in collaboration with the Texas Department of
Health developed a community mobilization manual and
training for “Shot Across Texas”.
- In 1995 and 1996 REdS served as Evaluator and
Principle Investigator for the Dallas County
“HIV Early Intervention Initiative”. The two
million dollar program was housed at the Dallas Council for
Alcohol and Drug Abuse.
- During 1996 REdS provided consultant services
related to evaluation issues for West Virginia
Department of Health, Drug and Alcohol Division and
Hawaii Department of Health, Drug and Alcohol Division.
The consultant services in both states were related to training
project directors to evaluate program outcomes.
- REdS was selected in 1997 to assist in the
evaluation of the Northwest Florida Alcohol and Other
Drug Prevention Coalition. A Center for
Substance Abuse Prevention funded, award winning
community partnership. Research and Educational Services
completed the final data analysis for the three-year project.
- REdS has served as consultant to Drug
Enforcement Administration
- From 1997 to 1999 REdS was a partner in the
development of the “Texas Prevention Impact Index”.
This project resulted in a survey and scoring materials
developed under a grant from the United States
Department of Education.
- REdS completed a statewide research project to
establish outcomes associated with D.A.R.E. for the
Texas D.A.R.E. Institute (2000), and the
Louisiana Commission on Law Enforcement (2001). The two
statewide research projects involved testing students at sites
across the state that represented the geographic and
demographic diversity of the state.
- REdS served as the principal Investigator of
evaluation of the Houston Police Department D.A.R.E.
Program (2000).
- REdS was the author of the Texas state plan for the
evaluation of the Juvenile Justice Alternative Education
Programs. The evaluation is a collaborative effort of
REdS, Texas Education Agency and
Texas Juvenile Probation Commission.

The first is a demonstration grant with Grand
Prairie Independent School District. The second is a
Counselor/Coordinator Grant with Spring Branch
